Larry Thompson is a critically acclaimed drummer with technical mastery, graceful style and a flair for the groove that complements all he plays with, making Larry highly sought after as both a performing and recording artist.

Known as one of the most originally unique drummers of his time, his recording credits number in excess of 300 albums with artists worldwide including Otis Taylor, Dr John, Dizzy Gillespie, Shawn Colvin, John Denver, Michael Mc Donald, Al Cooper, Dan Fogelberg and John Lee Hooker. Larry’s also played on several decades of television and radio commercials, films and scores of USA and international tours.

 

Early on, this extensive and diverse drumming exposure perpetuated Larry’s love of music. Larry found that neither genre nor venue really mattered and that his skills and playing were with the precision, execution and expertise and fire of someone with much more seniority in terms of age & experience, thus leading many to call Larry a natural.
